HZ-330: The Largest Centrifugal Barrel Finisher in the HZ-Series
HZ-330 High-Energy Centrifugal Barrel Finishing Machine
The Biggest High-Energy Centrifugal Tumbler Mass Finishing Makes: 12.8 Cubic Feet, 30 HP, Parts Up to 40 Inches
The HZ-330 is the flagship of the HZ-Series—the largest, most powerful centrifugal barrel finisher in the lineup. Every specification leads the series: 41.4″ barrels that accept parts up to 40.75″ long and 11″ in diameter. 11.9″ barrel bore—the widest in the lineup. 12.8 cubic feet of total capacity. 30 HP main motor. 120 individual divider chambers. And an automatic door opener that comes standard, because at this machine’s scale, manual door operation isn’t practical.
When manufacturers contact Mass Finishing about the HZ-330, the conversation usually starts with a specific problem: the parts are too large or too numerous for any other centrifugal barrel finisher to handle. Drive shafts over 3 feet long, oversized cast housings, large structural weldments, heavy forged components, and high-volume automotive production runs that need 12+ cubic feet of batch capacity per cycle—these are HZ-330 applications.
The HZ-330 delivers 60% more capacity than the HZ-220, with double the motor power (30 HP vs. 15 HP) to drive the heaviest barrel loads at consistent speed. Variable frequency control reaches 115 RPM—lower than smaller models, but the combination of the widest barrel radius in the series and the most powerful motor generates substantial centrifugal force at every point in the barrel.

Operating at the Scale Where No Other Centrifugal Barrel Finisher Reaches
The HZ-330 exists for a simple reason: some manufacturing operations produce parts that are too large, too heavy, or too numerous for any other centrifugal barrel finisher to process. Before the HZ-330, the alternative was multiple smaller machines running in parallel, vibratory tubs that lack the force of centrifugal processing, or hand finishing at enormous labor cost. The HZ-330 consolidates that finishing capacity into a single machine.
At 30 HP—double the HZ-220’s motor power—the HZ-330 drives four barrels loaded with dense ceramic media and heavy steel or iron components without speed degradation. The Allen Bradley PowerFlex 525 provides variable frequency control up to 115 RPM. While lower than the smaller models’ top speeds, the HZ-330’s barrel radius is the largest in the series, meaning each revolution generates the longest arc path of any HZ machine—and centrifugal force is a function of both speed and radius.
The automatic door opener is standard on the HZ-330. At 101″ x 65″ x 123″ overall dimensions and a shipping weight of 6,800 lbs (8,800 with drain pan), the main access door is too large and heavy for routine manual operation. The auto door is a practical design requirement, not a convenience feature.
HZ-330: Every Specification Leads the Series
41.4″ barrels—the longest AND widest
At 41.4″ long and 11.9″ in diameter, the HZ-330’s barrels accept parts up to 40.75″ long and 11″ across. Drive shafts, crossmembers, large structural weldments, oversized housings, and full-length automotive subframe components fit without compromise. No other HZ-Series machine comes close to this part envelope.
12.8 cubic feet—the highest batch capacity
60% more capacity than the HZ-220 and over 9X the compact HZ-40. For high-volume automotive production lines processing hundreds of heavy parts per shift, the HZ-330’s capacity reduces total cycle count per day to the minimum possible—maximizing throughput per machine hour.
120 divider chambers—the most of any HZ model
With 29 divider slots per barrel (30 chambers each, 120 total), the HZ-330 provides the highest part-isolation count in the series. Automotive OEMs running mixed assemblies of different part numbers, sizes, and materials through the same cycle can isolate every group without compromise.
30 HP—the most powerful motor in the lineup
Double the HZ-220’s motor power. When barrels are loaded with heavy ceramic media and dense metal castings—total barrel loads that can exceed hundreds of pounds—the 30 HP motor maintains consistent rotation speed without the power fade that smaller motors experience. Finishing quality stays uniform from the first cycle of the shift to the last.
Automatic door opener (standard)
The HZ-330’s main access door is too large for routine manual operation. The auto door opens and closes at the push of a button, maintaining production cadence during changeovers without the ergonomic strain of moving a door this size by hand, shift after shift.
Full production-line integration
PLC touchscreen with recipe storage, internal vibratory separator, drain pan, infrared safety curtains, centrifuge wastewater system, and media return system. The HZ-330 integrates into high-volume automotive production cells or operates as the anchor finishing station in a heavy industrial fabrication shop.
HZ-330 Barrels
The HZ-330 features four hexagonal barrels measuring 41.4″ L x 11.9″ D—the largest barrels in the entire HZ-Series by both length and diameter. Removable lids are secured with cam locks, and the standard air-driven cover lift handles lid removal via toggle switch. The HZ-330 also includes a standard automatic door opener that opens and closes the main access door with a button press—a necessary feature given the machine’s size and the production cadence it’s designed to sustain.
120 Chambers: The Highest Part Isolation in the HZ-Series
Each HZ-330 barrel has 29 divider slots, creating up to 30 isolated chambers per barrel—120 separate compartments across all four barrels. This is 36 more chambers than the HZ-220 (84) and the highest isolation count of any machine in the lineup.
At this chamber count, the HZ-330 enables production workflows that no other single machine can support:
- High-mix automotive production: Dozens of different part numbers from multiple program families, each isolated in their own chamber range, processed in a single cycle.
- Large-format fabricated parts: Oversized weldments, structural brackets, and forged components that need individual isolation because of their size and weight—30 chambers per barrel provides enough space for even the largest individual parts.
- High-volume small-part processing: When the goal is pure throughput, 120 compartments can hold hundreds of smaller parts, each group separated by customer order, material type, or finishing specification.
Dividers are NYLOIL® cast nylon with built-in oil lubrication. A second barrel set enables continuous operation.

Best For |
Parts up to 26.5″; fabricated metal; automotive assemblies; rubber |
Parts up to 40.75″; the largest automotive components; oversized fabricated parts; consolidation of multiple smaller machines |
Choose the HZ-330 if your parts exceed 26.5″ in length, your batch volume needs more than 8 cubic feet of capacity, you’re currently running multiple smaller machines to keep up with finishing demand, or your parts are the largest components in your production line and no other centrifugal barrel finisher can accept them.
The HZ-220 is the better fit if your parts fit within 26.5″ x 10″, 8 cubic feet of capacity sustains your production volume, and your budget and floor space favor the smaller machine. The HZ-220 remains the most cost-effective entry into the High Capacity class.
