PV Series Vibratory
The Most Affordable Vibratory Tubs Mass Finishing Makes—All Under 85 dBA
The PV Series is Mass Finishing’s most economical line of vibratory finishing tubs. Available in 0.75, 2.5, and 5 cu ft sizes, these machines deliver reliable deburring and polishing with the lowest entry cost—and the quietest operation in the lineup.
All PV models run under 85 dBA, making them suitable for shared shop spaces without hearing protection in most cases. This low noise level is built into the design through cast-urethane ribbed linings and a welded steel base that reduces vibration.
Each unit plugs into a standard 110V outlet, includes caster wheels, and is fully self-contained—no external water, air, or special electrical setup needed. They can be put into operation the same day they arrive.
From the compact PV-0.75 (bench-top friendly) to the PV-5 (comparable to the W-5 at a lower cost), the PV Series meets small-to-medium finishing needs for shops focused on simplicity, value, and quiet performance.
About the PV Series Vibratory Tubs
- The PV Series uses a 2700 RPM vibratory eccentric shaft to generate controlled vibration in the polyurethane-lined tub. Parts and media tumble in a continuous rolling mass—media surfaces contact every exposed part surface, gradually removing burrs, rounding edges, smoothing tool marks, and improving surface finish. The process is the same proven vibratory finishing principle used in the W-5 and across the industry, but the PV Series achieves it with a simpler, more cost-effective design.
- Operation is straightforward: load media and parts, add water and compound if running wet (or load dry media for dry applications), and turn on the machine. The cast-urethane-ribbed tub lining absorbs vibration energy and reduces noise—keeping operational levels consistently under 85 dBA. When the cycle is complete, separate parts from media manually or using the optional PV Media Separator accessory.
- The PV machines are built on a fully welded 14-gauge steel base with enamel paint finish. The construction is straightforward and durable—designed for years of daily use without complex maintenance. There are no hydraulic systems, no PLCs, and no electronic drives to service. Simplicity is the point: these machines do one thing (vibratory finishing) reliably and affordably.
PV Series Vibratory Tub
Basic Operation
Utilizing a 2700 rpm vibratory eccentric shaft, the PV Series creates a powerful vibratory action in the polyurethane-lined tub. Inside the tub, abrasive or non-abrasive media rolls in a large mass, providing a gentle yet thorough finish on your parts. Simply drop your unfinished parts into the mass and let the PV Series Vibratory Tub do the rest. After a specified amount of time, your parts will be removed and left smoothed and free of sharp edges and burrs.

Three Models: Choose Your Capacity
PV-0.75: The smallest vibratory tub Mass Finishing offers. At 0.75 cu ft, it’s sized for very small batches—finishing a handful of parts at a time for sampling, prototyping, or low-volume production of small components. Compact enough for a workbench or countertop.
PV-2.5: The mid-size option and the most popular PV model. At 2.5 cu ft, it handles meaningful batch volumes while remaining compact and affordable. The go-to choice for shops that need everyday deburring capability without the footprint or cost of a larger machine.
PV-5: The largest PV model, matching the W-5’s 5 cu ft capacity but at a lower price point. Buyers who need 5 cu ft of vibratory capacity and prioritize cost savings and quiet operation over the W-5’s variable speed drive and wet/dry versatility choose the PV-5.

Best For |
Budget-first buyers, noise-sensitive environments, shops that need a smaller or basic tub |
Shops that need variable speed, integrated water management, and easier media discharge |
Choose a PV tub if budget is your primary consideration, noise is a concern (the under-85-dBA rating is a significant advantage in shared workspaces), you need a size smaller than 5 cu ft, or your finishing applications don’t require variable speed control. The PV machines do the core job of vibratory finishing reliably and affordably.
Choose the W-5 if you need variable speed control to adjust finishing intensity between different part types, you want the integrated settling tank and recirculation pump for cleaner wet processing, you prefer the convenience of a media discharge door over manual unloading, or you value having more standard features out of the box. The W-5 costs more but includes features that the PV machines offer as optional accessories or don’t offer at all.
What the PV Series Is Built For
The Budget-Friendly Entry Into Vibratory Finishing
The PV Series is the machine line for shops that are buying their first vibratory finisher and want to keep the investment as low as possible. Whether it’s a one-person machine shop adding deburring capability, a startup finishing prototypes, or a school or training facility equipping a manufacturing lab, the PV machines deliver proven vibratory finishing at the most accessible price in Mass Finishing’s lineup.
Noise-Sensitive Environments
The under-85-dBA noise rating is the PV Series’ most underappreciated feature. For shops located in shared buildings, near offices, in residential areas, or in environments where operators work without hearing protection, the PV’s quiet operation is a practical requirement—not just a nice-to-have. Medical device labs, jewelry workshops, small contract shops in light-industrial spaces, and educational facilities all benefit from a finishing machine that doesn’t create a noise problem.
Common Finishing Tasks
The PV Series handles the same range of vibratory finishing applications as the W-5: deburring machined and stamped parts, edge radiusing, surface smoothing, descaling, cleaning, flash removal, and polishing. The process works with the same media types (ceramic, plastic, porcelain, corn cob, walnut shell) and the same compounds. The difference isn’t in what the PV can finish—it’s in the features and ergonomics of the machine itself.
Who Buys the PV Series
- Budget-first shops that want the most finishing capability for the lowest price. The PV-0.75 is the most affordable vibratory tub Mass Finishing sells.
- Noise-sensitive operations where the under-85-dBA rating is a functional requirement—medical labs, jewelry studios, shared-building shops, educational facilities.
- Shops that need a smaller capacity than 5 cu ft. The PV-0.75 and PV-2.5 fill a gap that the W-5 (5 cu ft only) doesn’t cover.
Secondary finishing stations where the PV tub handles a specific task (drying, light polishing, small-batch deburring) alongside a primary centrifugal or larger vibratory machine.
