It’s time to revisit one of our most iconic barrel tumbler concepts that has been reliably serving the dental industry for decades and continues to thrive in modern-day manufacturing.
While MFI’s current line of tumbling machines are extremely effective, there is one machine that is perfectly-suited to provide the dental industry with smooth, consistent part surface finishes. That machine is the HZ-12, or as its commonly known in the dental industry, the Denta2000.
With a long-standing presence in the dental industry, we are excited to highlight our finishing capabilities for dental manufacturers by revisiting our Denta2000 concept through two of our current, innovative centrifugal barrel tumbling machines. Those machines come from our High-Energy HZ-Series and allow the original Denta2000 name to live on.
The history behind the Denta2000
The Denta2000 name goes back as far as 1998 and was a turning point for dental manufacturing at the brink of the new millennium. The Denta2000 is associated with two MFI machines – the HZ-12 and the HZ-40 Centrifugal Barrel Finishers. As dental labs and manufacturers across the U.S. were eager for a chance to acquire new barrel tumbling machines specifically designed for their needs, these machines were present at various trade shows leading up to the next century. Almost every dental lab out there had our HZ-12 or HZ-40 equipment running in their facility under the Denta2000 name, and many still carry our HZ-Series line of machines. In fact, many models continue to fully operate to this day and are still available as a refurbished option, remaining good as new with the same features as before.
With the advent of 3D metal printing and its prominence in the dental industry, our mission for 2025 is clear. That is to continue leading the market through our HZ-Series machines and provide better surface finishing for 3D printing as it experiences extensive use in the dental industry.
Benefits for dental labs
In the world of dental technology, precision and consistency mean everything. MFI’s HZ-12 and HZ-40 machines remain popular in the dental space with their ability to eliminate manual polishing operations and maintain a small footprint. The industry is ever-evolving, and so are the needs of dental labs.
For their 3D-printed crowns, dentures, screws, frames and zirconia parts, labs want more compact and affordable solutions that easily integrate into modern workflows. They also need solutions that handle the complex surface textures of parts 3D printed with materials such as resin, sintered metal and polymer that each have a different hardness and abrasion tolerance. This is where our HZ-series shines with its more economic design and ability to reduce turnaround times as well as provide higher-quality finishes.
Meeting the needs of today
Faced with the new part finishing challenges stemming from additive manufacturing, dental labs continue to trust us to provide a solution that meets their demands. We’re confident that the HZ-series will continue exceeding their surface finish expectations while reducing turnaround times to increase overall output.
We’re excited to go back in time to spotlight a long-time staple as we continue to adapt with and for the dental industry. MFI’s HZ-series, or Denta2000, Centrifugal Barrel Tumbling machines showcase our equipment’s longevity and reliability together with a lifetime of service and support. Keep an eye out for future appearances at any of our upcoming trade shows to experience Denta2000 machines up close and in person.
