The HZ-6 Centrifugal Barrel Tumbler is the smallest industrial high-energy tumbler on the market. With heavy duty steel construction, a one horsepower motor this machine is built for all-day everyday use. This unit features two barrel positions that can each hold one full-size, latched-end barrel, or two half-size barrels.
Despite its small stature, with rotational speeds of up to 250 RPM, the HZ-6 creates similar performance to other models in MFI’s HZ-Series line. All the benefits of isotropic superfinishing are now available in a smaller, more affordable package.

HZ-6 Basic Operation
Centrifugal barrel finishing is a type of high-energy finishing that uses centrifugal force to subject parts and media to pressures greater than the force of gravity to efficiently finish parts. Our HZ-6 machine reaches upwards of 12Gs. The process involves loading the two locking barrels with a mixture of parts, water, compound, and media. As the machine rotates, the barrels spin around the turret on their own axis, creating a sliding force inside the barrel.
How It Works
Centrifugal barrel finishing, also known as centrifugal barrel tumbling, operates on the “Ferris Wheel” principle with a one-to-one ratio of barrel rotation to turret rotation. The process involves loading four barrels with a mixture of parts, water, compound, and media, which are filled to around 50-80% capacity. As the machine rotates, the barrels spin around the turret and on their own axis, creating a sliding force inside the barrel.

The integral hood switch and two-button jog requirement makes these machines extremely safe to operate. The hood is securely locked during cycles.
Variable speed controller & timer
The digital RPM and time selector allows you to adjust the main parameters of the unit. This allows you to slow down or speed up deburring and polishing processes.

HZ-6 Barrels
The HZ-6 Centrifugal Machines can be outfitted with two styles of removable barrels. These options include the latched-end and half-latched barrels.
By purchasing a second set of barrels, the operator can run one set while loading and preparing another. Consequently, this can dramatically improve production efficiency.
