HZ-160 Large-Diameter Centrifugal Barrel Finisher
HZ-160 Centrifugal Barrel
Finishing Machine
The Full-Size, High-Energy Finishing Machine With the Deepest Barrels in the Wide-Diameter Lineup
The HZ-160 is what manufacturers step up to when the HZ-120 isn’t large enough—either the parts are wider, the batches are heavier, or the production volume demands more capacity per cycle. At 20.625″ long and 11.8″ in diameter, the HZ-160’s barrels are 3.5″ longer and over 1.5″ deeper than the HZ-120’s, accommodating parts up to 20″ long and 11″ across.
That additional barrel depth matters. Parts in the 10–11″ diameter range—large gear housings, wide flanged assemblies, automotive brake rotors, rubber diaphragms, heavy cast manifolds—physically won’t fit in the HZ-120’s 9.5″ clearance. The HZ-160 opens up this entire category of larger, heavier components for centrifugal barrel processing.
With 7.1 cubic feet of total capacity and a 15 HP main motor, the HZ-160 delivers 51% more batch volume than the HZ-120 and drives media against heavier parts with greater force. Variable frequency control reaches 150 RPM, and the wider barrel radius generates high centrifugal force even at these lower rotation speeds—the physics of the wider swing path compensate for RPM, producing effective deburring and surface refinement on dense, heavy components.

What the HZ-160’s Deeper Barrels and Higher Capacity Make Possible
The HZ-160 answers a specific question that the HZ-120 leaves open: what do you do when your widest parts exceed 9.5″ in diameter, or your daily batch volume has outgrown 4.7 cubic feet of capacity?
At 11.8″ in barrel diameter and 7.1 cubic feet of total capacity, the HZ-160 is the largest wide-diameter centrifugal barrel finisher you can get before stepping into the high-capacity class (HZ-220 and HZ-330). It’s the right machine for operations that need the wide-barrel geometry of the HZ-120 but at a production scale that the HZ-120 can’t sustain—more parts per cycle, heavier media loads, and larger individual components.
The 15 HP main motor and 2 HP barrel rotation motor deliver significantly more drive force than the HZ-120’s 10 HP setup. This matters when barrels are loaded with heavy ceramic media and dense metal castings—the HZ-160 maintains consistent barrel speed under full load without the motor strain that can slow rotation on underpowered machines. Variable frequency control reaches 150 RPM, matching the HZ-120’s speed capability but with the power reserve to sustain it under heavier loads.
Why High-Volume Manufacturers Choose the HZ-160
11.8″ barrel diameter—the deepest in the wide-diameter class
The HZ-160’s barrels clear parts up to 11″ in diameter—1.5″ wider than the HZ-120. This opens up larger automotive assemblies, wider flanged components, oversized rubber parts, and heavy castings that exceed the HZ-120’s envelope. If your parts are in the 10–11″ diameter range, the HZ-160 is the smallest machine that fits them.
7.1 cubic feet of total capacity
51% more batch volume than the HZ-120. For contract manufacturers running two shifts of continuous production, this capacity difference translates to fewer total cycles per day to process the same workload—or the ability to take on larger batch orders without extending shift hours.
Up to 64 separate chambers
With 15 divider slots per barrel (16 chambers each, 64 total), the HZ-160 offers more part isolation than any other wide-diameter model. For automotive Tier 1 suppliers processing multiple component families in the same cycle, this level of separation keeps every part number and material type isolated.
15 HP main motor for heavy loads
The HZ-160 drives 50% more motor power than the HZ-120. When barrels are loaded with dense ceramic media and heavy steel or iron castings, the additional power maintains consistent rotation speed under full load. This prevents the speed drop-off that underpowered machines experience with heavy batches—which directly affects finishing consistency.
Air-driven cover lift (standard)
With deeper, heavier barrels than the HZ-120, the pneumatic cover lift is essential—not optional. A fully loaded HZ-160 barrel with ceramic media and steel parts is substantially heavier than an HZ-120 barrel, making manual lid removal impractical and unsafe at production cadence.
Full production-line integration
The HZ-160 supports PLC touchscreen with recipe storage, internal vibratory separator, drain pan (100″ x 95″ footprint), infrared safety curtains, automatic door opener, and centrifuge wastewater system. Automotive manufacturers integrate it directly into production cells; contract shops configure it as a flexible standalone finishing station.
HZ-160 Barrels
The HZ-160 features four hexagonal barrels measuring 20.625″ L x 11.8″ D—over 3.5″ longer and nearly 2″ deeper than the HZ-120’s barrels. Removable lids are secured with cam locks, and the standard air-driven cover lift handles lid removal via toggle switch.
The Deepest Barrels in the Wide-Diameter Lineup
The 11.8″ bore diameter is the distinguishing specification. Parts up to 11″ in diameter fit with clearance—this covers a category of components that the HZ-120 (9.5″ max part diameter) cannot accept:
- Automotive brake rotors and large flywheel blanks (10–11″ diameter)
- Wide rubber diaphragms, gaskets, and molded seals requiring deflashing
- Large die-cast and sand-cast housings for pumps, compressors, and gearboxes
- Oversized flanged fittings and pipe couplings
- Heavy stamped and forged brackets, plates, and structural components
Part Separation With Up to 16 Chambers Per Barrel
Each HZ-160 barrel has 15 divider slots, creating up to 16 isolated chambers per barrel—64 separate compartments across all four barrels. This is 12 more compartments per cycle than the HZ-120 (52), which matters for high-volume operations processing multiple part numbers simultaneously.
Dividers are made from NYLOIL® cast nylon with built-in oil lubrication. The deeper barrel bore means dividers create wider individual chambers than the HZ-120’s dividers, so wider parts can still be isolated even with dividers in place.
A second set of barrels enables continuous operation—load the next batch while the current cycle runs.

Best For |
Job shops, contract manufacturers, parts up to 9.5″ diameter |
Automotive production, rubber/plastics deflashing, parts up to 11″ diameter, higher batch volumes |
Choose the HZ-160 if your parts exceed 9.5″ in diameter, you need more than 4.7 cubic feet of batch capacity per cycle, your production runs rubber or plastic deflashing, or your daily volume has outgrown what the HZ-120 can process in a single shift.
The HZ-120 is the better fit if your widest parts are under 9.5″, your volumes are moderate, and your budget favors the smaller machine. The HZ-120 remains the most cost-effective entry into wide-diameter centrifugal barrel finishing.
