JEWELRY MANUFACTURER RELIES ON HIGH ENERGY BARREL TUMBLER FOR FINISHING.

G&S Jewelry Manufacturing has been in business since 1972. They help their clients create virtually any design they can come up with. This includes the finish. “Our business is focused around high value, small form factor jewelry products,” said George M. Wityak, the Technical Sales Manager based in their Albuquerque, NM plant.
Several years ago, the company acquired an HZ-120 Centrifugal Barrel Tumbler . “We now use this system throughout our process and it reduces finishing time by approximately two days over traditional avalanche barrel tumbling,” Wityak said.
It took some trial and error. The HZ-120 is traditionally used for larger parts or high volume applications. MFI typically recommends our HZ-40 Barrel Tumbler with removable barrels in jewelry applications. “Emptying the large tubs onto a screen or into a large container, made management of the small parts more challenging,” said Wityak.
G&S didn’t give up on the machine, they contacted MFI to see if there was a better solution. “The team at Mass Finishing suggested an insert that could be sealed and easily installed in the tub and readily removed. This allowed us to empty the contents in a controlled and confined manner,” Wityak explained. “Inventory management concerns have been 100% resolved.”
