Choosing a mass finishing machine is about more than finding equipment that fits your parts. The right machine, media, compound, cycle time, speed, and process all work together to determine the final result. That is why we at Mass Finishing encourage customers to send in their parts for testing and, when possible, take a trip to visit our facility in Howard Lake, Minnesota, to see the process firsthand.
Send Us Your Parts. See What’s Possible.
Not sure how your parts will respond to mass finishing? Send them to us!
Our test lab gives customers the opportunity to have their actual parts processed by our team before making a final equipment decision. We can evaluate different finishing approaches and develop a process based on the part geometry, material, quantity, and desired finish.

Rather than leaving you to figure out the combination of machine, media, compound, and cycle time on their own, our experienced team works through the process in the lab. The goal is to develop a repeatable finishing recipe that can be transferred to production equipment.
And customers don’t have to experience the process from a distance…
Come See Your Parts Being Finished
Stop by and visit Mass Finishing! We invite customers to visit our facility and see their parts running in our machines. There is something valuable about being able to watch the process in person, ask any questions you may have regarding the machine or the process directly to the experts, and see the results firsthand.
A recent example was ChM sp. z o.o., a medical manufacturing company based in Poland, which visited MFI to observe our team working through the finishing process for their parts.

During their visit, the ChM team was able to see the equipment in operation, learn how the process was developed, and get hands-on insight into how their finishing recipe works. By watching the process and learning the operation of the equipment, they were able to see how straightforward it would be to replicate the process on their new HZ-85 centrifugal barrel finishing machine.
That hands-on experience can make a significant difference when introducing a new finishing process into production. Instead of simply receiving a machine and figuring everything out from scratch, customers can leave with a better understanding of how their equipment should be operated and how their finishing process was developed.
A Production-Ready HZ-85
ChM’s HZ-85 was equipped with several options designed to simplify operation, increase productivity, and make the finishing process easier to manage:
- Barrel Dividers: Allow multiple batches to be processed at the same time, increasing available capacity.
- Parts and Media Separator: Makes it easier to separate finished parts from media and gather the media for reuse.
- Drain Pan: Helps contain liquids and maintain a cleaner, safer work area by reducing the potential for spills and slippery floors.
The result is equipment that is configured around the customer’s production needs, while keeping operation as straightforward as possible.

More Than a Machine Test
The MFI test lab is about more than proving that a part can be finished.
It is an opportunity to understand how the part should be finished and what it will take to consistently achieve the desired result in production.

Customers can send parts to our Howard Lake facility for testing, or, when schedules allow, visit us and get the hands-on VIP treatment! Our team can demonstrate the equipment, explain the finishing recipe, and help the future operators understand how to replicate the process once their machine is installed.
For customers investing in new finishing equipment, seeing the process for themselves can provide valuable confidence before the machine ever reaches the production floor.
